Hartford police said a home owner shot two suspects who attempted to break into his Tredeau Street home late Saturday night.
Police said they received calls just before 11 p.m. Saturday reporting a home invasion in progress at 109 Tredeau St. and that shots had been fired.
When officers arrived they discovered the homeowner was approached by two suspects who pointed a gun at him.
The homeowner, who is a legal pistol permit holder, was armed at the time of the incident and used his firearm to shoot the suspects several times.
One suspect was shot in the arm and chest and the second was shot in the head, groin and leg, police said.
Both suspects were taken to Hartford Hospital where they are listed in critical but stable condition. Police said the pair are from Lawrence, Massachusetts, however, their identities are being withheld at this time.
The homeowner did suffer minor injuries during the incident. A woman and child were also in the home at the time, but were uninjured.
Police said the home is equipped with video surveillance, which they will be reviewing.
Officers did locate a gun and zip-ties on the suspects.
The homeowner was not charged and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
