MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The Milford Police Department is investigating two “suspicious encounters” on the east side of the city.

A man driving in a motor vehicle made an “inappropriate gesture” toward a group of teenage girls on Beach Avenue, according to police.

Later in the day, a man was spotted on Baxter Lane “motioning to a child to come towards his vehicle.”

In both “suspicious encounters,” the suspect, who eyewitnesses said darker hair and possibly facial hair, was seen in a light blue four-door car.

However, in response, police have increased patrols in those areas. School officials are aware of the incidents.

“In light of these types of suspicious encounters adults are reminded to speak with children, encouraging them to immediately report to a trusted adult, anything that feels suspicious or uncomfortable,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

Anyone with any information about the suspect is asked to call the Milford Police Department at 203-878-6551 or by clicking here
