There's a new deputy chief in town.
Lt. Scott P. Custer of the South Windsor Police Department will be promoted to deputy chief of police on Sunday.
Custer was selected by Chief Timothy Edwards, police said.
Custer is a 26-year veteran of the department and currently serves as commander of the support services division. He was also a sergeant in the same division and has also served as the public information officer since 2006.
He's also served as a criminal investigator, a D.A.R.E. officer, a field training officer and a narcotics investigator, police said.
