Manchester police investigate 2 armed robberies

MANCHESTER, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Manchester said they're looking into reports of two armed robberies that happened over the weekend.

They said the first happened on Sunday around 12:30 a.m. at the Mobil gas station on Hartford Road.

A man allegedly entered the store wearing all black and showing a knife. The suspect demanded money and cigarettes, police said.

He was described as standing 5'10" tall with a thin build.

The second incident happened at a BP Mart on Hartford Road around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

A suspect sporting a black hoodie, blue jeans, black shoes and a Walmart bag over his head came into the store and showed a knife.

Police said he jumped over the counter, grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the register and fled.

The suspect was described as standing 5'6" tall, weighing about 150 pounds and spoke with a slight Spanish accent.

No one was hurt in either incident.

Police said they were working on obtaining surveillance pictures from both stores.
