NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) -
There is a happy ending for a New London kitty that was abused by a group of children.
Chloe the cat is scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday with an orthopedic surgeon to repair her leg, rather than having it removed.
Last week, animal control said 4-month-old Chloe “suffered a serious break of her left humerus” after being abused by some children in an undisclosed New London neighborhood.
Because the treatment for the injuries were so costly, animal control officers said on Friday that there were four options for Chloe, which was euthanization, splinting the injury, amputating the leg or surgically repairing it at an orthopedic vet.
However, on Monday, the VCA New London Animal Hospital posted on Facebook “Because of all the amazing people who donated and shared her story, Chloe will have surgery to save her leg, rather than remove it!
Chloe was resting comfortably on Monday afternoon as she prepared for the big day.
“Thank you for all your generous donations, phone calls and "paws"itive vibes towards her road to recovery,” the VCA New London Animal Hospital said. Once Chloe’s bills are paid, any funds left over will go to the New London Animal Control to help other animals in need.
Donations can be mailed to: VCA New London, 122 Cross Rd., Waterford, CT 06385. Attn: Chloe.
