NEW BRITAIN, CT (WFSB) -

A sewage line problem canceled classes that normally take place inside a Central Connecticut State University building.

Davidson Hall, which is mainly an administration building, was closed on Wednesday after CCSU officials said a drain pipe in the basement became clogged and backed up into the bathrooms.

While Davidson Hall is mostly administrative space, there are classrooms inside as well.

CCSU officials said all events and classes in the hall were canceled on Wednesday and only essential personnel were allowed inside. There will be no campus tours as well.

Teams have cleaned up the issue and plumbers were at the scene on Wednesday.

Students said they were alerted about the problem via email and social media.

"It was on our email so everyone got an email about it," said student Abiola Oretad.

University officials said the mess was a major clean up effort.

The building is expected to reopen on Thursday.
