Fate of dogs in Plainfield attack goes before state agriculture officials

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The fate of dogs involved in a brutal Plainfield attack last fall went before state agricultural officials on Wednesday.

The dogs belonging to Corey Beakey and Jenna Allen, both 29, were being discussed at hearing at the Department of Agriculture on Capitol Avenue in Hartford.

Beakey and Allen turned themselves in on Monday after police issued arrest warrants.

Police said the incident happened on Dec. 3, 2014.

Lynne Dennings, a 56-year-old self-employed healthcare worker, was caring for a patient on Putnam Road in Plainfield when she suffered injuries to her face, chest, arms and legs.

At the time, one of the owners told Eyewitness News that two of six dogs were responsible.

Police said the owners were given an order to dispose of the dogs or request a hearing with the Commission of Agriculture. in accordance with state law.

As of 11:30 a.m., no decision was made.
