Shots fired in Bridgeport leads to 3 schools being placed in lockdown

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) -

Three schools in Bridgeport had to be placed into temporary lockdowns after a nearby shooting on Wednesday morning.

A 911 call was placed to police after shots were fired in the area of Daniels and Trumbull avenues. However, upon arrival, officers were unable to locate a victim or suspect.

As a precaution, of Hallen, Park City Magnet and Wilbur Cross schools were placed on temporary lockdown because the shooting was close by.

School officials lifted the lockdowns once police determined there was no victim or suspect.

Police are gathering evidence and reviewing surveillance video from the area. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Bridgeport Police Department at 203-581-5201.
