Police in Hartford said they arrested an uncle following the city's 26th homicide of the year.
Jose Colon 67, is accused of stabbing his 55-year-old nephew to death.
The incident happened at 69 James St. just before 10 p.m., according to investigators.
They said they responded to a 911 report of two people bleeding due to a fight.
By the time emergency crews arrived, they found the nephew, 55-year-old Roberto Perales, with a severe stab wound to the arm. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital around 10:30 p.m. where he was pronounced dead.
In the same Jame Street apartment, police said they found Colon bleeding from the head. He was also transported to St. Francis Hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury. He was released into police custody.
Investigators said both lived in the apartment together.
Police said alcohol was largely involved. An argument turned into a physical fight in which the uncle allegedly stabbed his nephew with a kitchen knife.
A witness was the one who called police.
Colon was released from the hospital and taken to the Hartford Police Department where he was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
Hartford police are still investigating this incident.
