September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and a social media challenge is "whipping" up a lot of support.
It's called "Whipping Childhood Cancer" and the premise works a lot like last summer's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
A person is challenged to take a pie to the face and donate to a childhood cancer charity. The challenged then pushes it forward by challenging someone else and sharing their messy adventure with the online community.
A number of Channel 3 personalities and staff took part in the challenge and encouraged others to do the same.
According to the Whipping Childhood Cancer website, 1 in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 18. Every day, 46 children are diagnosed with it and seven of them will lose their lives. It said cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children.
