New London Police are investigating an incident that left a baby severely burned on Sunday morning.
At about 11:14 a.m., an ambulance responded to a home on Bristol Street for the report of a two-year-old boy having trouble breathing.
When emergency personnel arrived they determined that the child was suffering from 1st and 2nd degree burns to approximately 50 percent of his body.
According to police, it appears that the baby was burned from extremely hot water in a bath tub.
The baby was brought Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and then flown by Lifestar helicopter to Shriner's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts to be treated for the burns. He is listed in critical condition.
New London police is investigating whether the incident was an accident or intentional. Several people, including the child's parents, were interviewed and the residence was searched by police.
The Department of Children and Families was contacted.
This incident is still under investigation.
