With Wednesday being the first day of autumn, leaf peeping will soon be in full swing.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection listed a number of tips and prime locations on its website.

It recommended driving to the state mid-week when the roads are quieter. It also said visitors may want to pack some hiking boots to get the full experience.

According to DEEP, some of the more scenic locations to see fall foliage in Connecticut include:

  • Macedonia Brook State Park in Kent
  • Mohawk State Forest in Cornwall
