AAA said it rounded up thousands of expired, damaged and recalled car seats.
The auto club held a news conference on Whitney Avenue in Hamden Thursday to mark National Child Passenger Safety Seat Month, which focused on the importance of using proper car seats.
AAA Northeast representatives joined transportation officials to collect the seats as part of a 2 week long car seat roundup.
They said their aim was to pull potentially dangerous car seats from circulation. For each one, they paid a "bounty" of $5.
The public also had an option to donate that money to CT Safe Kids.
AAA said Winter Bros. Waste Systems of Danbury and Seymour took the seats to recycle and dispose of them properly.
Overall, they said they received more than 2,000 seats.
