GROTON, CT (WFSB) -

Part of the 'Duck Dynasty' family is heading to Groton to honor the Navy families at the submarine base.

Missy Robertson, along with her Husband Jase Robertson and children, Reed, Cole and Mia, will participate in a day of family-friendly fun, according to the Navy New London Public Affairs Office.

It's happening on Oct. 2.

The Robertsons' event includes a picnic for the military families at the base's Dealey Center Plaza from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

It will be followed by a special free program to be held in the base theater from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The program includes inspirational and person speeches from the family as well as acoustic performances from Reed and Cole.

“I have wanted to do an event like this for our troops for quite some time, and when this opportunity arose, I knew it would be the perfect fit,” Missy Robertson said in a statement. “When I think about how blessed my life has been, with its joys and disappointments, its successes and failures, I have never forgotten the fact that my family would not be allowed the freedoms to experience it all if it wasn’t for our military."

Missy Robertson said she wanted to do something to recognize the families who sacrifice something every single day.

"What’s more is that they choose this life," she said. "It is not forced on them as in other countries."

The event will also feature a book signing for Missy Robertson's upcoming book Blessed, Blessed... Blessed, which is slated to be released on Oct. 6. That's taking place in the sub base library from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The event in the Dealey Center is free, but tickets are required.

The rest of the events are open to all military personnel and their families with existing base access and their escorted guests. Tickets will be available at the sub base library starting on Monday, Sept. 28.
