Drivers were warned of a planned road closure in Naugatuck that was slated for Friday.
It affects Rubber Avenue between Route 63, also known as Meadow and Cherry Streets, and Melbourne Street. The closure was for all eastbound traffic.
It went into effect at 7 a.m. on Friday and was scheduled to last until 5 p.m., according to police.
Drivers were encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
Detours were set up to move traffic around the closure. They used Scott Street from Melbourne Street to Cherry Street.
Police said businesses along Rubber Avenue were open during the project, but only could be gotten to by traveling west on Rubber Avenue.
