HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Hartford police are looking for the driver that fled the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian early Sunday morning.

Police said the accident occurred just after 2:30 a.m. in the area of Greenfield and Pliny streets.

The victim was walking along the roadway when she was hit by a vehicle, police said.

The female victim was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where she is currently undergoing surgery, according to police.

Sources tell Eyewitness News the victim suffered serious injuries during the incident and police are now looking for a white SUV being driven by a woman that may be involved in the accident.

Garden Street reopened shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday.
