A woman was arrested in connection with an armed purse robbery and standoff in Willimantic that happened back in August.

Police said 29-year-old Heather Johnson, along with a man already in custody, was involved in the robbery during which the victim was held at gunpoint while the victim's purse was snatched.

The incident happened on Aug. 23 on Gem Drive.

Police said Johnson was charged with first-degree robbery and larceny.

She was held on a $150,000 bond and given a court date of Thursday in Danielson.

"Officer Dan Rovella was the lead investigator on this armed robbery and he's worked tirelessly on this investigation"  said Sgt. Alex Coriaty, Willimantic police. "We are a busy town with all the activity that takes place in the city and its gratifying to know that our young police officers are capable and confident in properly investigating these major crimes, it's a major credit to Willimantic police's command staff who hires these young officers."

Police already arrested Joshua Omar Sauri a few days after the incident took place.

The incident led to a standoff situation that lasted through the night. When police eventually entered the home on Gem Drive, the suspect was nowhere to be found.

They revealed that they knew Sauri from prior incidents and that he may have had an underlying drug addiction and medical issues.

He was eventually found on Aug. 26 hiding between two buildings on Cameo Drive.
