The Connecticut Sun said on Thursday that their head coach has resigned.
Anne Donovan was first introduced as the team's head coach in Jan. 2013.
"It’s not easy walking away from a team that I put my heart and soul into, but I think it is in my best interest to move on at this time,” Donovan said in a statement. “I will miss the ladies and the passion of the Sun fans. I was proud to serve as their head coach."
Donovan's record compiled 38 wins and 64 loses over three seasons.
The team said her contract expires this month. Its record on her final season was 15-19.
“We are grateful to Anne for her efforts here over the past three seasons, and respect her decision to step down,” said Chris Sienko, Sun vice president and general manager. “The search for our next head coach will begin immediately.”
