The Travelers Championship is known for giving back, donating 100 percent of its net proceeds to charity, and this year it is no different.
On Thursday, Travelers representatives and community leaders gathered at the Connecticut Science Center to announce their total charitable contribution.
The 2015 tournament generated a total of $1,565,000, which goes toward various charities.
It is a record for the championship.
“We think that's the most important thing with the tournament, it’s not just the big crowds and the player field, that's all great, but at the end of the day, everything the tournament makes goes back to charity, and we're here to celebrate that today,” said tournament director Nathan Grube.
More than 140 charities will benefit from the championship.
