HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

An investigation was launched by the Hartford Police Department after an officer's gun was stolen earlier this week.

Someone broke into the officer's personal vehicle sometime between midnight on Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. The officer said the suspect took his gun, which contained loaded magazines, as well as the duty belt that contained the holster and the OC spray.

The officer told police that his neighbor found his radio on the grass on Thursday morning.

There were no eyewitnesses or suspects identified by police.

The department is working to track down the missing weapon and also is conducting an internal investigation.
