NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) -

After a violent act was caught on camera, New London police posted the video to social media in hopes of finding those responsible.

Police are using surveillance video wedded from several sources documenting the same group during a violent crime back in July.

Police said around 1:30 a.m. on July 13, several people can be seen walking down Green Street in New London when one man gets violently assaulted.

"Initially, they didn't know they had an assault victim,” New London Police Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said. “They believed they had an intoxicated party."

That unidentified victim ended up here at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for more than a week with a traumatic brain injury.

Police said the suspect was wearing a blue T-shirt, tan shorts, and white sneakers.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News they are just learning about the assault.

"I'm surprised something like that would have went down on a weekend,” said RIchard Madore, of New London. “That was so busy."

Reichard said this incident was one of the rare times they had to post surveillance video on Facebook in hopes of finding out who attacked this man.

"The key part is the first part of the video there are two females that were seen with our victim,” Reichard said. “We're trying to see if we can identify either one of these females.”

If anyone has any information, they are asked to call New London Police Department at 860-447-1481.
