A man and woman are dead following a shooting in Hartford on Monday afternoon, police said.
The double fatal shooting was reported at 1020 Broad St.
Police said the man was 48 and the woman was 38, and their bodies were found in a bedroom inside of their third floor apartment on Broad Street.
A shotgun was located inside of the apartment. Both the man and woman had visible gunshot wounds to the head, police said.
There is no word on what their relationship is at this time, however police said they have two children, who were not home at the time of the shooting.
Police said they believe it is a domestic situation and is presenting itself as a murder-suicide, however the medical examiner is expected to investigate and determine what happened.
"Right now the evidence at the scene presents itself to be a domestic, murder suicide. That is preliminary though. It will need to be confirmed by (medical examiner) and investigators, and that's what we are working on right now," said Hartford Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley.
Neighbors said the man and woman own Salcedo grocery store on Broad Street, and many people said they were shocked to hear about their deaths.
"We loved them and they were a happy couple. We just don't know anymore to have them do that," John Rios said.
The shooting is being investigated by the Hartford Police Major Crimes Unit.
