Retail experts said shoppers can rake in the holiday savings sooner than ever.
Fall is in full swing, and all of the summer merchandise has to get off the showroom floor to make room for new products.
“Camping gear, patio furniture, all of those things are going to be marked down, they're going to be on clearance. Because who is going to put out their patio and umbrella in the winter? No one,” said the Crazy Coupon Chick Missie Morris.
She said October is the best time to stock up on the best deals and store them for later, like backpacks.
“Everyone's done shopping. The kids are all set, everybody has their backpacks, and they have everything so everything that is left on the shelf is going to go on clearance,” Morris said.
While Black Friday used to just be one day, it has expanded into the month of October.
Consumers can expect to see deals on winter clothing and holiday baking ingredients.
Plus, now is a great time to buy a car.
“Simply because the 2016 models are already out,” Morris said, adding that people may consider trading in their car too. “People wait to trade in their SUV until February, March, the new year when they get their taxes back...well, it's not worth as much. Right now, winter is coming (and) they're looking for that used car that is going to be safer for them in the winter.”
Also, while many people are putting away their grills, Morris said now is the time to buy.
“Now's an excellent time to buy grills because the season has ended, so we have to clear out next year’s models to bring in this year’s models,” said Brenda McMeans, of Fire Finesse in Wethersfield.
Also, October is National Pizza Month. Morris said pizza restaurants across the state are giving discounts on their pizza pies.
