No drugs were found at a Bristol apartment where officials responded to reports of a suspected drug lab.
Emergency crews responded to the home at the Ridgemont Apartment Complex on Emmett Street on Wednesday afternoon.
At first, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said it was a suspected drug lab, however after investigating, officials said no drugs were found.
DEEP said it received a call around 12:30 p.m. that there was a strong chemical odor coming from an apartment at 460 Emmett St. Bristol police responded and confirmed the smell.
The investigation forced people who were in the building out of their apartments for three hours.
After investigating, officials said the apartment was dirty, causing a smell.
DEEP took air samples to determine if the building is safe for occupancy and properly handle the packaging of any suspected chemicals.
The statewide narcotics task force was also investigating.
Officials said a woman who lived in the apartment was sick and has not been there for a while. A relative had gone over on Wednesday and smelled something, so they called police.
