WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

West Hartford school officials have determined where the source of a suspicious phone call came from, prompting a “soft” lock down at a school last Friday.

Officials said the source of the suspicious automated message came from Hamilton College, in Clinton, NY.

This message forced officials to enforce a “soft” lock down at the Solomon Schechter Day School.

The message, which said there was a gunman on campus, was sent to all students and their emergency contact.

One of the faculty members of Solomon Schechter School is a parent of a student attending Hamilton College.

Around 1 p.m. the students, teachers and staff in West Hartford were allowed back in the building. Students were not dismissed early, according to the administration.
