NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Several damaged cars in New Haven have police beefing up patrols.

Police said someone used a BB gun to damage cars along a number of streets, including West Rock Avenue.

They said vehicles on Alden, Central and McKinley avenues were also targeted.

All of those streets are within a couple of blocks from each other.

"Usually I'm up pretty late and usually I hear anything what’s going on on the street,” said Jonathan Carlos, a resident. “I didn’t hear anything."

Police confirmed that the suspect used a BB gun.

While the damage was minimal, residents asked them to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

Neighbors said they hope the stepped up patrols keep whoever did it from coming back.

"That’s terrible,” Carlos said. “People work hard. They buy these cars."

Anyone with information is asked to call the New Haven Police Department.
