BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) -

A serious motorcycle crash in Bristol left a man dead Friday morning.

Police identified the rider as 56-year-old Matthew Cote of Middletown.

They said they responded to the scene at Willis Street and East Road just before noon.

Cote was involved in a collision with a vehicle driven by 81-year-old Claire Nocera.

He suffered serious injuries and died more than 12 hours later at St. Francis Hospital, police said.

Investigators said Cote was traveling southbound on Willis Street when he approached the East Road intersection.

Nocera was traveling eastbound on East Road and stopped for a stop sign at the intersection.

Police said Nocera entered the intersection and struck Cote.

At the time of the crash, police said Cote was not wearing a helmet. He suffered a serious head injury.
