Prosecutors say a Newtown civilian police dispatcher has pleaded guilty in federal court to being involved in an operation that was manufacturing and distributing steroids from China.
Authorities say 46-year-old Jason Chickos, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids Monday in Hartford.
Law enforcement officers seized hundreds of vials of steroids, more than 1,000 oxycodone pills, more than a pound of raw testosterone powder and nearly a pound of powder cocaine as well as four long guns.
Federal prosecutors have said that a former Newtown police sergeant was receiving shipments of steroid ingredients and manufacturing and distributing wholesale quantities of steroids to others, including Chickos.
Chickos faces up to 10 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 11.
