STAMFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Stamford police have released a sketch of a man accused in an alleged sex assault that happened earlier this month.

Police said in the early morning hours of Friday, Oct. 16, a 30-year-old woman was jogging on the track at Cove Island Park.

A man reportedly came from behind her and grabbed her off the track and told her he had a knife and began to sexually assault her.

During the "prolonged" attack, police said she was dragged to the water line and sexually assaulted again.

The suspect then left the area and the victim notified police.

Police described the man as being between 35 and 40 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a stocky, medium build who spoke English with a Spanish accent.

He was wearing a dark colored fleece sweatshirt, gym style shorts, black sneakers, and a dark colored baseball hat. Police said the suspect also smelled of alcohol on his breath.

Anyone with information should contact Stamford police at 203-977-4417.
