BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Six residents were displaced after a house fire in Branford on Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported home on Indian Neck Road near the Stony Creek Brewery around 10:40 a.m. After receiving several 911 calls, firefighters arrived at the home to find smoke and heavy fire coming from the structure.

Authorities said they believe the fire started in an apartment on the first floor.

There is smoke damage throughout the building, which was built in the 1920s. The damage left all the tenants without a home.

There were no reported injuries by the tenants or firefighters. However, two pets, a dog and a cat, died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Branford firefighters received mutual aid from the Guilford Fire Department.
