MONROE, CT (WFSB) -

A religious store in Monroe and the local police department are asking for the public’s help locating their missing statue of Jesus Christ.

The 5-foot tall color statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was displayed in front of the religious store Angels & Company Gifts & Medals, which is located on Route 25.

The statue, which is worth $600, was last seen in front of the store by a store employee at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a friend of the owner noticed the statue missing and alerted authorities and the store owner.

The statue was given to Angels & Company by an elderly woman, who was moving and could not take the statue with her. She asked the store to take it and it has been on display ever since.

The owner of the store said they just want the statue back. However, police are investigating the incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Monroe Police Department at 203-261-3622 or the tip-line at 203-452-2839.
