HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

Quinnipiac University has issued the Beta Theta Pi fraternity a cease and desist order following hazing allegations.

The school prohibits the fraternity from operating at the school until the student conduct process is completed, said Lynn Bushnell, vice president for public affairs.

Officials did not say when they were made aware of the hazing allegations.

"With the safety and security of our students being paramount, the university will simply not tolerate hazing of any kind by any group or individual and will act swiftly to remove from the community those held responsible,” Bushnell said.

According to the group’s Facebook page, the newest pledges were welcomed on Sept. 30.

This is the fourth time in the last three years, and second time this semester that a Quinnipiac University fraternity has been shut down.
