Three New Britain schools were placed in soft lockdown after a police investigation on Friday afternoon.
Chamberlain Primary, Roosevelt Middle and Smith Elementary schools were put into the lockdown just before 1 p.m., according to Paul Salina, who is the chief operations officer for New Britain Schools.
School officials did not report what was the incident that caused the lockdown, but said police are investigating in the surrounding area.
The “soft lockdown” means people can “proceed with normal activities,” Salina said. However, Salina said the students cannot outside the building.
Students will be dismissed at normal times, Salina said.
