New Haven police are searching for a person who shot a teenager on Sunday evening.
At about 6 p.m., emergency crews responded to the area of Bassett Street between Butler and Newhall Streets for the report of a person shot.
Officers found a 13-year-old male who had been shot in his right calf.
The teen was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
Chief Dean M. Esserman visited the teen at the hospital and spoke with his family members.
The only description is that the suspect was in an older model dark Honda or similar type car with dark tinted windows.There is no description of the shooter.
Detectives are the at scene looking for evidence and interviewing witnesses.
