An officer who responded to a domestic disturbance call in Danbury early Sunday morning was punched in the head by a suspect.

Police said they arrested Jeffrey Lockhart on a number of charges.

They said they were first called to a home on Grandview Avenue just after 12:30 a.m.

When they arrived, they said Lockhart has already left the scene.

Two of the three responding officers left on foot to go find him. The third stayed behind to take a statement.

However, Lockhart returned and confronted the third officer. Police said a struggle ensued and Lockhart punched the officer in the side of the head.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody after being shocked by a Taser from the returning officers.

No one was seriously hurt.

Lockhart was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, assault no public safety personnel, resisting arrest, violation of a protective order and two counts of second-degree burglary.

Police said he's being held on a $100,000 bond.
