Businesses offer freebies to veterans as a sign of thanks

As a show of thanks, several businesses with locations around the state are offering a number of freebies and deals to veterans.

All they need to do is show proper identification.

Here's a list of participating businesses:

  • Applebee’s – Free meals
  • California Pizza Kitchen – Free meal
  • Chili’s – Free entrée from a special menu
  • Denny’s – Free “Build your own slam” from 5 a.m. to noon
  • Friendly’s – participating locations offering free Big-Two-Do breakfast or All-American burger with friends and a beverage
  • Great Clips – free haircut
  • Hooters – participating locations offering free entrée up to $10.99
  • IHOP – Free stack of red, white and blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • LongHorn Steakhouse – Free “Texas Tonion” appetizer and non-alcoholic drink
  • Mystic Aquarium – Free general admission through Nov. 11. Family members get discounts
  • Olive Garden – Free entrée from a special menu, family members get 10 percent discount
  • On the Border – Free dine-in dinners
  • Outback Steakhouse – Free Bloomin’ Onion and beverage
  • Red Lobster – Free appetizer or dessert
  • Red Robin – Free Tavern Double burger with bottomless fries
  • Ruby Tuesday – Free appetizer
  • Starbucks – free tall hot brewed beverages
  • Texas Road House – Free meals
  • TGI Fridays – Free lunch from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.
