Quest Diagnostics reached an agreement to buy another facility called Clinical Laboratory Partners.
This merger may come at a price, as some Clinical Lab workers could lose their jobs, however it is unclear how many.
The company employs more than 550 people, and Quest said it is expecting to add about 350 jobs, mainly in Connecticut because of an increase in demand.
The merger should go through early next year.
Clinical Laboratory Partners is a provider for Hartford Hospital, and now Quest will take over that.
In a statement, Quest said “We continue to be committed to Connecticut and believe this acquisition, once completed, will enhance access to quality, affordable and convenient lab services for people and families in the state. We expect to add about 350 new jobs, most in Conn, to service the new business, with some testing from CLP to transition to our rapid response laboratories in Wallingford, Torrington, and Stratford, Connecticut.”
