There’s a new kind of underwear for women out there, aimed to make that “time of the month” better for womankind.
They are called THINX Period Panties, and the creators said they want to start an underwear revolution.
The underwear is reusable and is made to take the place of pads or tampons.
While there is some controversy, the THINX company argues that it is just selling better underwear for women who have periods.
Mari Cayres tried the panties, and while she was skeptical at first, she said she actually liked them.
“I wasn't really sure about it” in the beginning, Cayres said.
But then she gave them a try, she said “once you try it, it's not that bad, it's good.”
Cayres tried two kinds, one for heavy days and one for lighter days.
“It’s clean, I don’t feel dirty. It does absorb a lot,” Cayres said.
She wore the THINX when she went to sleep, to the gym, and everywhere else.
Cayres is one of a growing number of younger women who want period alternatives.
She said she thinks the THINX will be a great addition to the options.
“I think it’s actually a perfect back-up plan,” she said.
The THINX company said it plans to change the world with the underwear, especially since 100 million girls miss one week of school because of their period.
With each pair of THINX purchased, the company is donating three reusable pads to girls in the developing world, creating what they call an “underwear revolution.”
