NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Students at Yale are making new demands to the chiefs of the university.

They sent a letter to the university president, dean and senior members asking for policies that will reduce racism on campus.

In part, the letter reads "it should now be obvious that the state of the racial climate on Yale's campus is unconscionable."

Students, went on to say, to claim there has been "a long history of racism at Yale, which has disproportionately harmed women of color.”

Students are demanding that all undergraduate students take an ethnic studies class and more funding should go to each cultural center.

They also want Calhoun College to be renamed because they said building is named after a white supremacist.

Earlier this week, hundreds of student came together to march to show their support to put an end to campus racism.

It stems from an incident when a student was turned away from a fraternity because of the color of her skin.
