A wrong-way driver is believed to be the cause of a serious motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 in Tolland on Friday night, police said.
The eastbound side of I-84 is closed near exits 69 and 70 after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and possibly two other vehicles around 7 p.m.

State police said the tractor-trailer rolled over and onto a passenger car.
The driver of that car was conscious and alert when they were extricated from the vehicle, police said. The driver was rushed to Hartford Hospital by LIFE STAR medical helicopter. Their condition was not released by police.
The crash has caused traffic delays and backup including for people leaving the University of Connecticut home opener.

The crash remains under investigation.
