The former superintendent of schools in Mansfield turned himself into police on Friday night over allegations he stole thousands of dollars from the town.
Police said 65-year-old Frederick Baruzzi admitted to falsifying mileage reports he filed for traveling for work.
Baruzzi told police he paid a total of $93,000 back to the town for the false reports.
Baruzzi officially resigned in January.
Baruzzi is now facing larceny charges.
