A drug operation by detectives in Hartford netted a suspected dealer, according to police.

They said they arrested Carlos Sanchez, 31, of Meriden, after receiving a number of complaints about hand-to-hand transactions in the area of 187 Babcock St.

Police said undercover detectives conducted surveillance in the area and saw Sanchez involved in suspected sales.

They said they stopped his vehicle, during which they saw him placing an item under a rear floor mat. The item turned out to be a loaded Glock 9 mm gun.

The passenger in Sanchez's vehicle, Jacqueline Martines-Pressey, 44, of Meriden, did have a valid pistol permit, according to police. However, she was found to be in possession of a bag of marijuana.

Detectives said they also found a second gun, 9 grams of cocaine and $1,100 in the vehicle.

Due to the suspected sale and recovery of drugs, Martines-Pressey's pistol permit and Glock were seized.

Police said Sanchez is a convicted felon.

He faces firearm and drug-related charges.

The investigation into Martines-Pressey's drug purchases and activity is ongoing, according to police. They said her gun will be tested and compared against projectiles and casings recovered at other Hartford shooting crime scenes.
