ANDOVER, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut State Police have made an arrest following the death of an Andover man this summer.

On Tuesday, police arrested 22-year-old Michael Robert Fortin and charged him with the July 3 murder of 38-year-old Jason Marchand of Andover.

Police said Marchand was shot on the night of July 3, on Lakeside Drive.

Police said Marchand was involved in a verbal argument earlier in the evening at about 9:15 p.m. with a male suspect on lake association property at Andover Lake on Lakeside Drive.

Witnesses told police that the same male suspect later returned to Lakeside Drive on his motorcycle and as Marchand confronted the suspect, police said that is when he was shot multiple times.

He was pronounced dead at Windham Hospital.

On Tuesday, police said Fortin was located in the parking lot of his East Hartford apartment.

He was charged with murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, carrying a handgun without a permit, and carrying a dangerous weapon.

He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
