Pedestrian struck, killed after returning from Meriden pizza shop

MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -

A man died after police said he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Meriden.

Investigators said the incident happened around 6 p.m. on East Main Street.

When police arrived, they said they found 68-year-old Jack Coursey in the street suffering from multiple injuries.

They said he was trying to cross to return to his own vehicle after buying a pizza from Uptown Pizza.

He was transported to Hartford Hospital where police said he later died from his injuries.

The vehicle involved was a 1997 Honda Accord, which was driven by Jay Quigley. Quigley also had to be transported to the hospital for cuts to his face. Police said they were the result of his windshield breaking.

No charges have been filed.

The incident remains under investigation.
