VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

A man arrested in connection with a murder that happened in Andover over the summer is scheduled to face a judge on Wednesday.

Michael R. Fortin was taken into custody on Tuesday after state police said an arrest warrant was issued.

He was found in the parking lot of his apartment on Tolland Street in East Hartford.

Troopers said he shot 38-year-old Jason Marchand back on July 3.

They said they responded to Lakeside Drive just after 10 p.m. that day and found Marchand laying in a yard. Marchand was transported to Windham Hospital where he later died.

State police said Fortin's warrant was approved on Tuesday. He was charged with murder, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, carrying a handgun without a permit and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Fortin is due in Rockville Superior Court at 10 a.m.
