With Thanksgiving just one week away, the Connecticut Food Bank is teaming up with the Yale-Harvard football game to “Fill the Bowl.”
The idea is not just to fill the historic stadium for what is known to many as simply “The Game,” but also the plates of those less fortunate this Thanksgiving.
The food bank will be at The Bowl on Saturday collecting donations.
For a frozen turkey or a bag of canned goods, donors will get two general admission tickets to the game.
"It makes a huge difference in what we can provide to pantries over the next week. Turkeys are very sought after, non-perishable items that will help people provide the trimmings. We usually get a very large amount from Fill the Bowl and we're hoping for good numbers this year,” said Paul Shipman Connecticut Food Bank.
The game kicks off on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The food bank serves six of Connecticut’s eight counties, providing food for some 700 partners and programs around the state.
