EAST WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) -

East Windsor police are asking for the public’s help after a gray female pit bill was found in a wooded area of town.

Police said the dog was laying on a pink blanket in a wooded area of East Road.

She was unable to walk and police said it was clear that she had medical issues and needed attention.

“Our Animal Control Officer responded and rushed the pit bull to Enfield Animal Hospital,” police wrote in a Facebook post.

Because of her significant medical problems, police said the dog was put to sleep humanely.

The medical issues were not from abuse, and police said it was clear someone wanted her to be found due to where she was located just off the road.

“Despite this, we are saddened someone dumped her here as there is always other options if unable to care for your pet,” East Windsor police said.

Police told Eyewitness News that the dog could have been used solely as a breeder dog.

Right now police said there is an abandonment charge, which is an infraction. Police said they want to speak to the owner of the dog to find out more information that may lead to a more significant charge.

Anyone with information on the owner of the dog should call police at (860)292-8240.
