Rain Sunday night could end in wet snow for some

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Rain could end as wet snow for some in Connecticut late Sunday night.

Meteorologist Mike Cameron said rain is moving through areas of southeastern Connecticut on Sunday evening.

“At the very tail end, enough cold air may infiltrate to change the rain to snow for an hour or so,” Cameron said.

The snow isn’t expected to last long enough to accumulate in most cases, however a few areas could see a minor coating.

Cameron said after midnight, lows will bottom out in the 20s, but the feeling in the air could go into the teens.

The cold air sticks around for the beginning of the week.

On Monday, heavy coats will be needed as temperatures inland won’t go past the upper 30s, and along the shoreline residents can expect temperatures only in the low 40s.

Tuesday will begin in the low 20s, and highs will only range between 38 and 46 degrees during the afternoon hours.

Cameron said it is possible that there could be a few isolated sprinkles or flurries, however he said most of the day will stay dry.

The weather is expected to cooperate for holiday travel ahead of Thanksgiving on Thursday.
