Hemingway Avenue reopens after 2 people struck by vehicle crossing street in East Haven

EAST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Two women were struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street in East Haven on Monday morning.

The crash was reported in the area of 71 Hemingway Ave. around 5:30 a.m.  

The conditions and names of the victims were not released by police. However, an eyewitness told WFSB that one woman has a broken leg while another woman has two broken legs. 

Eyewitnesses said the two women were trying to cross Hemingway Avenue to get into a tractor-trailer and get to work when they were hit by a motor vehicle. 

Hemingway Avenue was closed near the intersection of Dodge Avenue. The road reopened around 7:15 a.m. 

Police said the vehicle involved in the crash did stop. The vehicle was towed from the scene. 

The crash remains under investigation.
