A University of New Haven student and a New York man were arrested after police said they tried to make another student withdraw money and hit him several times on campus Sunday night.
Police said Tobias Elliot of Floral Park, NY, and Rahik Harris of Rockaway, NY, walked into a student’s dorm room around 5 p.m. The victim told police that after the two men assaulted him, they forced him to walk to an ATM on campus to withdraw money.
The victim told police that Elliot and Harris believed he owed them money.
As the three men were walking on campus, the victim ran away and into the UNH campus security office.
Police arrested Elliot and Harris a short time later. They were charged with robbery, assault and criminal trespass.
The victim was treated by the West Haven Fire Department.
Elliot and Harris are being held on bond. It is unclear when the two UNH students will be arraigned at New Haven Superior Court.
